Camp Hill Swimming Club AGM
Saturday 9th July @ 1pm - See "Members Only" area for full
details |

Hi all,
It is the time of year again where we need to
hold the AGM. Please put the date in your diary. It is also the date for the
Sprint Champs awards and Summer BBQ.
Please look through the attached document and
fill in where appropriate and return asap.
There are a few roles that will need filling
for the next year, so please look through the role descriptors and if you feel
you are able to undertake one please fill in the attached forms and send back.
As we know we have a fantastic club and we want it continue to grow from
strength to strength and we can only do that if people help out and volunteer
(and since you are already at the club anyway watching your children swim...why
not!?). If there are any questions or queries about these roles please see any
of the current committee who will be able to help you out.
Just a notice regarding the pool especially now
it is warming up and starting to look a bit like summer;
-
There is NO
eating or drinking (apart from water) on the poolside or the changing rooms.
This is mainly for the cleanliness of the pool but also because the pool does
have an ongoing ant problem which food and drink exacerbates.
-
There should be NO outdoor footwear worn on the poolside. We are desperately
trying to keep the water clean and hygienic for our swimmers without the use
for harsher chemicals! There are new blue shoe covers available or you are
welcome to bring indoor shoes/flip flops or to go bare foot!
-
Speed Limits down the drive. We know you all love to get to the pool on time
but we have noticed some drivers driving at worrying speeds in and off the
school site. This is a school and a private site with no pavements, we need to
be slower and more cautious when driving around, especially with the building
work going on and more of us now walking/cycling to the pool in the better
weather.
-
Lastly, we want to encourage more of our swimmers to be cycling to the pool,
cross training will definitely help with fitness, but if you are bringing your
bike, the only places where you are permitted to lock them up is in the bike
rack (situated past the pool on the left hand side out of sight), or on the
BLUE fencing, car park side (not the road side). No bikes are permitted inside
the building or on the white railing near the ramp.
Hope to see you all at the pool over the next
week! Enjoy the sunshine!

Final day at Warwickshire's 2016
So after three Saturday's we finally had the last day of
the Warwickshire county championships on a Sunday. Not just any Sunday, Mother's
Day.
Happy Mother's Day to all, and I hope you were treated well.
This morning we had the boys 50 FC and the girls 100 Brs. All the boys got PB's,
some knocking seconds off their previous 50 PB. The best swim went to Tyrese
Lobban, considering he missed warm up and still managed to get a one second PB.
Well done all of you lads.
In the 100 Brs all of the girls swam very well, unfortunately no PBs were
achieved this time around but they should all be proud of how they did.
In the afternoon it was the turn of the girls in the 50Brs. Again all the girls
swam fantastically in the final event for Camp Hill. Despite her moans Tilly
made the final and Emily Colleran was a reserve finalist. Emily managed to also
get a PB, with Clarrie and Sophia both achieving big PBs.
A big well done to everyone today and in the previous three days. It has been
fantastic to see such enthusiasm and team spirit to competitive swimming, I have
enjoyed it immensely. See you back in training this week.

Warwickshire's Day 3
This morning we had the girls 100 backstroke and the boys
50 backstroke.
In the heats we had some fantastic swims, with Emily McNab getting a 1 second pb,
somethings she told me immediately before the race was impossible. Gabby Dickson
also got a small pb. Emily Colleran and Tilly Neal made the finals which were
held in the evening session, where Emily Colleran swam a whole second faster
than in the heats.
In the boys 50 Back we were treated to three equally good swims from Jonathon
Vaskor, Dylan Abulenca and Kai Alexander. All of them managed to get substantial
pbs. Jon made the final, just missing out on a medal.
After some very exciting swims in the morning, it was once again a girls only
affair. We had girls in the 50 fly and the 200 IM. All the girls swam well in
the heats for the 50 fly, but a particular highlight was Gabby Dickson achieving
a pb. Tilly and Gabby made the finals, where both of them managed to gain pbs,
including Gabby pb-ing on her heats time.
It was a long day for everyone especially for those with finals in the evening
session. There was a lot of waiting around, but it was worth it for some
fantastic swims. Very well done everyone.
Good luck for tomorrow and let's finish the counties off in style.

Warwickshire day 2 report
This morning started off as an all girl affair with some rather sleepy heads
trying to wake each other up for their 50m freestyle.
Highlights of the 50m free:
Despite missing warm up Lizzie Ribchester managed to pull of the swim of that
event with a massive pb taking her down to a 33.89 in long course. Sophia Okoosi-Dunn
did even better with a 3 second pb takin her to a 37.58!
Tilly Neal made the final and like last week pd-ed in it taking her time down to
a 29.33 long course and snatching 3rd place.
It was then the turn of the 200back swimmers. Again Tilly achieved a pb of
2:47.15 long course, Emily McNab just missed out on a pb but had an absolutely
storming first 100 boding well for next week. Emily Colleran also swam a gutsy
race but ran out of steam towards the end.
Afternoon session started very quickly after, with 3 boys/man arriving to
bolster the girls.
First up was the boys 50 breaststroke, which caused both joy and frustration.
Will Ribchester swam a humongous 5 second pb, only to be disqualified for moving
on the blocks. Such a shame but it was a fantastic confidence booster, showing
us what he can be capable of in future races, well done Will 😊 Dylan Abulenca
also managed to achieve a pb of 52.19 long course.
After that is was a rather long wait to the girls 100 Fly which, considering the
length of time the girls had to wait around in a hot and humid environment, they
all swam really well in. Although not quite pbs Emily Colleran and Gabby Dickson
both swam fantastically and can take great pride from their swims. Tilly Neal
swam her heat, which placed her 4th going into the final.
The evening session and it was Tilly who after spending all day sat around,
looking like she'd just woken up, primed herself for her 100 fly final. She
absolutely stormed it going 3 seconds faster than in the heat and getting a 2
second pb, recording a 1.10.19 long course, a swim to be very proud of. The
reward was a 2nd place finish.
I would like to say well done to every single swimmer today. Everyone swam
brilliantly and nearly everyone went home with at least 1 pb! (And thank you for
the card and birthday announcement)
A special thank you must also go to Michael McNab and George McMahon who came
along to cheer their team mates on even though neither of them had any races
today
I am away until Thursday but keep training hard for next weekend what I hope
will be a wonderful final weekend at the Warwickshires for Camp Hill.

swimmers and relay teams. |

Arena League 2015
We have completed a very successful 3
rounds of the National Arena League this year, each round showing improvement
and using what we have been doing in training. Round 1 we came up against some
very tough competition and finished in 5th place with 138 points. We pounded
through training and worked especially on our streamlining, underwater kick and
dives to then storm Round 2 with a massively successful 1st place and 194
points. Off the back of this success, swimmers knuckled down to some serious
work, concentrating on take overs, turns and kick securing us a fantastically
fought 3rd place in the final round.
Not only were the swims fantastic and
some huge pub's achieved this year, but the support, encouragement and
professionalism shown on poolside not only made the coaches very proud but also
drew the attention and compliments of other clubs, so well done all.
A few special mentions to Tily and Kai
for their superb swims and anchor legs on relays! Well done to all! |

Warwickshire County Championships - Day 1
The first day of county championships arrived and the
swimmers were ready. We started the morning session with Tilly Neal swimming the
400m IM. A long course PB and placed 7th Next swim was from Jonathan Vaskor with
200m BC. A great strong swim and with the time converted (to 25m pool) a PB Then
it was time for the girls 50m BC. Hannah Dunn, Elizabeth Ribchester and Clarrie
Williams swam their socks off with Hannah Dunn swimming faster than her SC time
we finished the morning session with another long course PB from Tilly Neal in
the 200m FC.
After lunch (rather large lunch for some of our
swimmers!!!!) we were ready for more racing. Jonathan started us off with a
quick 50m FC - another PB Both Clarrie and Tilly went next in the 200m BRST.
First time swimming in a 50m pool, Clarrie did so well and both girls swam PBs
We finished off the day with a BANG! Not only did Tilly Neal qualify for the
final in the 100m FLY (1.14), she swam the final 2 seconds faster (1.12) coming
second and qualified for Midland Championships in May
A fabulous day of racing, looking forward to next week!
